          1. Learn to talk about the new inventions orally.

          2. Understand the whole lesson and read it fluently.

          (1) get sth. to do sth.

          (2) the difference between “be able to” and “can”

          (3) the second most useful invention: the combination of the ordinal number and the superlative degree.

          1. Rewrite the dialogue into an article to develop the Ss’ analysis abilities

          Step 1 Revision

          Go over the names of some inventions.

          T: Well, we know Edison was a great inventor. He invented a lot of things all his life. Nowadays, there are more and more inventions.

          What inventions do you know?

          (Light, telephone, television, radio, computer, …)

          Step 2 Read and say

          David try to invent something today. What does he want to invent?

          Let’s go on to learn Unit 7, Lesson 25.

          Part 1

          Listen to Part 1 and answer the following questions.

          1. What is David doing?

          2. Why is he doing that?

          3. Does it work?

          Teach: (1)get it write more quickly讓它寫得更快。 Get sb. to do sth.

          (2)be able to 與 can的區別

          時態:be able to 用于不同的時態;can只有原形過去形式

          意義:be able to 能做某事;can有更多的意思,如:表示允許;表示猜測

          T: David wanted to invent a new pen. If he can, that is a new invention.

          The inventions have changed the world a lot.

          Which inventions do you think have changed the world more?

          Then show the four old inventions.

          Look at page ii and talk about it. Ask and answer in pairs by using the questions in Part 2.

          Some inventions’ names are very long, so people usually have a short way to call them.
